Less Than Shocking: Dead Rush Crawls Forward

GTA meets Resident Evil.

Posted by Staff
As far as videogames go, titles like Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil must be two of the most influential blockbuster super-hits ever. So Activision’s idea of creating a Resident Evil style GTA clone seems like a pretty safe bet. The player gets stuck in a quarantined city populated by flaky-fleshed zombies and abandoned vehicles, and consequently must escape in a free-roaming, mission-punctuated style.

Whilst none of this passes as anything even remotely original, it may well be enough to tempt the millions of people who forked out for any (or all) of the GTA and Resident Evil games. If Dead Rush can also offer an experience equivalent to GTA and Resident combined, then it will be a surefire chart-topper. If it is anything less than that, the lack of quality will be all too noticeable.

Whatever happened to puzzle games?

It would be nice to see a Tetris/Resident Evil combination. Such a game could see you have to ram and crunch the bodies of the undead into nicely tesselated spaces. Wach time you fill al ine you get to shoot a Zombie Crack Whore in the head and jizz on her corpse.

How about a Tetris / Grand Theft Auto combination - possibly Grand Tetris Auto? Here you must drive each Tetris block around a town, executing the mission it gives you before you can place it with all the rest you're stacking in your garage or some such. Whenever you complete a line, you get to hear Eminem saying "Yo" - that's an exclusive Eminem soundtrack there!

Something to fix my post DotD high. I'll be there if it's any good. I think this kind of game scenario would also work well as a RTS.

How I long to relive those DotD moments, where you know you could do a much better job of killing zombies, than the muppet cast in the films. If you have countless resources at your disposal, key to survival is making sure the horde can't bite and infect you. This means body armour, and weapons. Common sense in my book.
