In a recent poll, almost 99.7% of people* questioned stated that Sony’s beautiful PlayStation 2 hybrid, the PSX, was the nicest thing ever in the world. Easily seeing off nature, diamonds, babies, and even Izzy from Hollyoaks, the PSX romped home to a well-deserved victory.
And rightly so. This being the case, it was surprising to see such a negative reaction to the PSX – which, in our opinion, is the best looking games player ever created - from Japan’s respected industry analysts.
In the weeks running up to last Saturday’s launch, Sony was embarrassingly forced to make a functionality climb-down, a move that seemingly stirred the world’s press into a frenzy of negativity.
Well, the first sales reports to come out of Japan have been made available today, with almost all retailers claiming strong initial sales.
Indeed, according to contacts on the ground, the PSX has sold out across most of Tokyo, with the design and functionality of the device appealing beyond expectations.
Full sales figures are expected from Sony within days, so expect an update soon.
