Record online figures announced
It seems the world is finally getting its consoles connected, as both Sony and Microsoft have recently been revealing some rather impressive figures with regard to their respective online services.

In a press release yesterday, Sony announced that its new tactical multiplayer sequel SOCOM II amassed a whopping 22,000 simultaneous players within the first 48 hours of release. Released on the 4th of this month, SOCOM II shot straight to the number one spot in the online console game chart, knocking its prequel down to second place.

On the other hand, Microsoft also had something to shout about, stating that last weekend was the busiest yet for its Xbox Live service. Apparently, on November 2, figures proclaimed that at least 83,653 players spent a total of 262,268 hours playing online. Top title amongst that lot was the recently released Rainbow Six 3, which achieved a total of 24,478 players for the day, peaking at 6,731 simultaneously.
