Pikmin 2 slides away

US date spells misery for Euro plant organisers.

Various US sources have confirmed to us this morning that the Miyamoto plant-organising sim Pikmin 2 has been delayed by at least seven months in the territory.

Although originally planned for an October 17th launch in the US, sources in the region have stated that Nintendo is now, albeit quietly, reorganising itself for a May 2004 release.

Boo!

The multiplayer augmented sequel is currently pencilled in for a November 28th release in Europe, which we believe will now slip back to May or June of next year.

As ever, there’s a silver lining to this cloud of despair. Speculation has arisen this morning of online functionality being bolted onto the game, which was touted by Miyamoto himself as being almost complete.

Very interesting indeed. We’ll bring you clarification of release dates and online gubbins soon.
