Sega president Oguchi: Sammy merger talks still underway
At Sega’s shareholder meeting held in Tokyo last week, new president Hisao Oguchi took the stage to explain the firm’s new direction and stance in the market place.

As well as the usual pledges to boost dividends and bolster sales around the world, Oguchi made clear his plans for merging Sega’s massive development and publishing operations.

Speaking of the ill-fated merger talks with both Sammy and Namco, Oguchi made some shock remarks, not least that the Namco affair was only a brief moment, with Namco withdrawing its offer within days of initially making it.

What’s more, he confirmed that discussions with pachinko giant Sammy are still underway, with both sides hoping to reach finalised agreements in the coming weeks. We’ll keep our ear to the ground and bring you the outcome as we get it.
