Namco has confirmed this morning that following the breakdown of Sega’s talks with Sammy, the Tekken-touting company has withdrawn from merger talks with Sega.
“Sega told us on Thursday that it was not in a situation to give any specific answer to the proposal. And we decided that it is not the right time to proceed with the merger discussions," the firm said in a statement.
As to where this leaves Sega is yet to be seen, though the general consensus is that the Japanese heavyweight has some sort of surprise announcement up its sleeve for next week’s E3.
We’ll bring you more, as it breaks.
