Sega seems to be looking for a way out of its current agreement with Sammy, seemingly sidling up to coin-op giant Namco, perhaps as part of a possible merger.

Indeed, Sega representatives confirmed last week that the two companies had been in discussions at the “upper end of corporate affairs”,looking towards consolidating both firms’ activities.

Overnight in Tokyo, Namco revealed that it has sent a merger proposal outline to Sega CEO Tetsu Kayama and board on April 17, and that it expects some kind of answer by May 8.

Sega has now revealed that it looking at both proposals from Sammy and Namco and will make an announcement at E3. Feel the excitement.
