Sony slams today’s PlayStation 3 chit-chat
Idle email gossip leads some to jump the gun
Oops. Videogames journalism makes you want to believe, and seemingly some believe a little too readily. Sites today have posted stories that the PlayStation 3 will be shown, behind closed doors and to non-gaming press, at next month’s E3.
This rumour stems from an email doing the rounds this morning and apparently comes from a journalist in the US.
However, speaking today, a Sony Computer Entertainment spokesman stated, “I can categorically state that there will be no PlayStation 3 shown at E3 this year. Not behind closed doors, not anywhere.”
So there you have it. It’s also worth bearing in mind that SCE really has no need to rush out a console. PlayStation 2 sells amazingly well and next-gen offerings from both Microsoft and Nintendo offer no pressure.
