Sonic, Sega, Pachinko and more. Sega and Sammy find their feet
Sammy’s president Hajime Satomi has gone on record to explain a little more about how the two companies will merge later this year, breaking the veil of silence that has surrounded the deal since it was announced.

Both Sega and Sammy will retain their individual brands, including Sega’s eleven R&D studios, all of which carry specific branding in which Sega has invested heavily over the past few years.

So from a consumer point of view, nothing will really change other than Sega will stand to gain a stronger foothold in the profitable pachinko business in Japan. What’s more, Sega will support Sammy’s Dreamcast-based AtomisWave arcade platform, something that shouldn’t pose a problem.
