PlayStation 3 tough talking begins
The race to dominate the next generation of home console entertainment is now on, officially. Following J Allard assuring us personally that Microsoft will launch the next Xbox upgrade before Sony manages to release a PlayStation 3, SCE chief technology officer Kenshi Manabe has gone on record to say that actually, the PS3 will be first.

"We intend to launch the successor to the PlayStation 2 ahead of our initial schedule, which was drawn up some years ago. This, we believe will bring us ahead of Microsoft, who is planning a new console towards the end of 2005."

If this is anything more that chest thumping, which it would seem to be, then Nintendo looks likely to release the GameCube successor into a market already coping with two new hardware launches. If Satoru Iwata's predictions of a 2005, 2006 release prove correct, this schedule may spell trouble in store for Nintendo.

We'll keep an eye out, and let you know.
