We can reveal that UK-based Criterion has been working with Hudson Soft for a considerable amount of time on an as yet undisclosed project.
Speaking to us today, Criterion CEO David Lau-Kee said, “We have been working with Hudson for some time but chose jointly not to announce it. Hudson is busy as you know working away at its multi-platform strategy for the next few years. They saw that RenderWare could help this. We expect to substantially cut development time for 3D games by several months, especially when they are being made for more than one platform.”
When pressed over whether this use of Criterion’s technology would be deployed in a future cross-platform Bomberman Online title, a project that has been the subject of intense rumour, Lau-Kee simply said, “We cannot comment on game titles. That will be done by Hudson.”
We’ll keep you updated on this as it progresses and in the meantime, feel free to enjoy Criterion’s latest offering, the excellent Burnout 2: Point of Impact.
