2K Games has set up a new studio in the San Francisco area, with former Gears of War and BioShock Infinite bigshot Rod Fergusson at its head.Fergusson broke the news in a
tweet, writing "It’s official: I’m launching a new studio for 2K in the Bay Area with an exciting new project! Details soon!"
The news was later confirmed by 2K with a rep telling
Polygon, "We are happy to confirm that Rod is heading up a new development studio, but we have no further announcements at this time."
Fergusson himself went on to tell the site, "We'll have lots more to say moving forward but nothing more today."
Fergusson made his name at Epic Games as an executive producer then director of production on
Gears of War. More recently he had a stint at Irrational, working as executive VP of development from August 2012 until earlier this year.
