Steam Teams Up with Twitch for Game Streaming
One of the big, big Socially Connected (make yourself a celeb) elements of the New Gen console launches coming up with PS4 and Xbox One has been the idea of streaming your game playing prowess to your pals or a wider audience. Steam and Twitch TV are also getting PC gamers into that business relationship.

Twitch has announced that, "Steam users (of which it’s safe to say there are a lot of) will be able to link their Twitch accounts to the popular gaming service." The release then provides some details of what looks like a very experimental outing concentrating on one key title for the illustration.

"This will come as great news to Dota 2 fans", states Twitch, continuing, "as this will allow you to be eligible for tournament item drops while watching Twitch streams, so long as you own the ticket for that event. No longer will you have to to choose between watching events on either DotaTV or Twitch, and risk missing out on your in-game rewards. To link your account, visit the 'Connections' page of your Twitch account settings."

Over on the Dota 2 blog, there's some flesh on the bones with, "Linking accounts will mean that viewers will no longer have to choose between watching games on DotaTV or a live broadcast on one of the Twitch steams, Dota 2 viewers will be eligible for item drops while watching a broadcast, as long as they own a ticket to that event on their Steam account.

"This feature could provide better statistical data of gaming viewership and open new doors not only for Dota 2, but other games as well. Valve have really set a new standard for spectatorship in an eSport discipline and hopefully this is one of many positive changes to come."

So, now, PC gamers can make themselves staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars!
