Pokémon Rumble U to Launch With Skylanders-Style Figures
Assumed to be read using GamePad's NFC pad.

Nintendo is taking a few cues from Activision's Skylanders with its upcoming Wii U Pokémon game, spinoff brawler Pokémon Rumble U. The downloadable title will be supported with the release of physical figures that can be purchased to enhance the experience. Gotta catch 'em all!
So far, we know that Japanese gamers will be able to collect six standard figures and one special figure. Yes, you'll be able to collect Pikachu. The toys will have the ability to host level-up information and battle stats, which presumably will require the Wii U GamePad's NFC capabilities to access.
Pokémon Rumble U will hit the Japanese Wii U eShop on April 24, and will cost ¥1800 (about £12), with toys costing ¥200 (£1.40) each.

This might turn out to be a monster hit. £12 for game and £1.40 for figures? That massively undercuts Skylanders, and with the popularity of Pokemon to kiddies, could make Nintendo lots of £s or $s or yen, you know what I mean! Cash.
