Sony Hints at PS4 Support for Upcoming 4K Movie Service
Sony's preparing a download service that features 4K resolution movies. Hey! The PlayStation 4 is compatible with 4K! Does that mean..? Yep, according to Sony Electronics President Phil Molyneux, the PS4 is likely to end up supporting the service too.

When asked if the next-gen console will get access to the service, which is currently shrouded in secrecy, Molyneux simply said, "We'll give you more details in due course, but I promise you will not be disappointed."

The problem that Sony needs to overcome is the distribution of 4K movies, which Molyneux says can weigh in at around "100 gigabytes and plus." That's huge! With no physical medium yet available to contain that much data on a massmarket consumer level, it's assumed that digital will be the best way to offer these products.

"[These are] challenges that we have to work through... we've got some very good ideas that will make that a comfortable consumer experience," Molyneux said. The Verge jumps to the conclusion that this will mean background/overnight downloading mechanics will be the answer, but we guess that supposition is as good as any.

Sony recently confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will be compatible with 4K movies and photos, but not games.
