Thought Take-Two's XCOM shooter project was canned following the critical acclaimed release of Enemy Unknown? Don't be so hasty - the publisher has confirmed that the 2K Marin-led title is still in development.
It's simply been in hibernation for an extended period of time, that's all. Take-Two has said that it expects XCOM to release in its 2014 fiscal year - between April 1 2013 and March 31 2014, basically. It was originally scheduled for release in March 2012.
There are whispers that the game has shifted from its initial FPS design as well, taking a squad-based third-person shooter approach. It's also rumoured to have transformed from full disc-release to a digitally-distributed title, for consoles only.
"2K Marin continues to make progress on XCOM," the company said during its financials call.
