All Together Now: Nintendo Warns of US Shortages at Wii U Launch
There is a Nintendo hardware launch coming in the USA on November 18th, the 30th in Europe, and 8th December in Japan. And yes, Ninty can't say if there won't be shortages because, well, pre-orders have been going so well and Ninty always warns of shortages.

It's a tradition in the world of hardware always around Xmas or new-launch time to be concerned and warn consumers that they really should either pre-order or camp outside Woolworths or Borders or Walmart. Here is this year's take from the executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America... Mr Scott Moffitt:

"Certainly we've seen brisk pre-sales and that the phone calls have been coming into our headquarters for quite a while now asking for more and so we do expect high demand. But I can tell you this - on opening week we will have more systems on hand for the Wii U than we did for the launch of Wii. And, second, our replenishments will be more frequent this holiday time than during the Wii launch."

All good so far but wait! What's this we hear?

"But, having said all that, it's impossible to exactly predict demand, and so I can't say that we won't have some shortages out there and that people won't have to be a little patient with the replenishment truckload and shipments and boatloads to arrive."

Like we said last time - sort your inventory management out!

Scott also has this to say about pricing - some have said it's too high - Scott says: "All I can say is that the response has been phenomenal and we're getting, especially in the higher priced deluxe set, that one's selling out incredibly quickly. That seems to indicate that the pricing's in a good spot and the proof is in the consumer response."

Marketing nonsense aside, we're really looking forward to our Wii U being delivered fresh from Nintendo before launch so we can tell you all about it.
