Nintendo Wii U In-Game Chat for Few Games and Only with Third-Party Headset
The Nintendo Wii U will offer in-game chat for some games including Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 but you'll have to pay for more equipment if you want to use the functionality.

According to a report, "The new Nintendo console will support in-game voice chat for 'select games'. " Unsurprisngly so far these are said to include AAA's such as Assassin's Creed III, Call of Duty Black Ops II and Mass Effect 3..." Also included are "all games with significant online multiplayer modes and all which support in-game voice chat on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3." The kicker, however, is...

...the Wii U GamePad's microphone and speakers don't support voice chat in-game. So, Nintendo has told Kotaku that "users who want to be able to talk to each other can use a licensed stereo headset from Turtle Beach or Mad Catz (Tritton). The headsets plug into the GamePad's headphone jack."

Cock-up? Conspiracy? Understandable late addition of voice-chat to help consumers? Tell us what you reckon about that in the Forum.
