343 Industries' Franchise Development Director, Frank O'Connor, has spoken of the studio's journey in crafting a new Halo trilogy. In an interview with SPOnG, published later today, the Bungie veteran revealed the trials, tribulations and rewards for continuing Master Chief's saga. And some of that comes from the varied talent that reside at 343 Industries today.
"Bungie left us an incredibly rich and vibrant universe, but it was a challenge," he told an audience yesterday. "We had to build a studio from scratch - jump from 9 people to around 300."
But O'Connor noted that the fledgling outfit received interest from "a wealth of talent from people all over the world... people who had worked on Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty... these guys wanted to work on Halo because it's such an interesting and fascinating franchise."
SPOnG has a one-to-one interview with Frank coming later today, in which he talks about how these varied developers with past backgrounds helped to shape a new trilogy for Master Chief, and whether the prospect of picking up Bungie's legacy was overwhelming. Stay tuned for the full interview!
