Cave CEO Steps Down
Legendary Japanese developer, Cave, has taken a blow today as president and CEO Ito Masahito, resigns from his position. The news comes amid fears that the schmup studio is struggling to survive in the post-arcade games market.

It's the second departure from the cult studio in a year, with COO Miko Watanabe leaving in May. Masahito will be replaced by chairman of the board Kenichi Takano.

SPOnG's Cave Week, back in November 2011, highlighted a desire by the company to move towards a mobile future - as described by executive Tsuneki Ikeda in our exclusive interview.

But MCV reports that the new direction is not working out so well, with minimal success on Xbox 360 and a snubbing from longtime fans on iOS after prices for its mobile games were raised to counter dissatisfaction with in-app purchases.
