Japanese magazine Famitsu has written a lovely retrospective of Final Fantasy VII, which is 15 years old. Tetsuya Nomura, who worked as a character designer for the game, was asked about his experience and whether a much-anticipated remake will happen soon. He said no.While he admitted that there was a huge demand for a high-definition re-imagination of the PlayStation classic, he said that the focus for Square Enix was on making new titles in the franchise - and to make these match or even top
Final Fantasy VII. It's not that we don't have faith, but we wish the team the best of luck in achieving that.
It's nice that Nomura-san is spending time talking about this
and Kingdom Hearts when he could be working on
Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which is now at least six years in development. A guy's gotta have a break, sometimes.
