As we reported in April of this year, Sony and Polyphony Digital are already working away on the latest in-car-nation (!) of the seminal racing series Gran Turismo. We said that the game will feature full online real-time racing and was tentatively titled GTN.
At that time, Sony was unsure as to whether GTN would be a stand-alone product or an add-on pack for Gran Turismo 3.
Over the weekend, Japanese gaming bible Famitsu has reported that the possibility of releasing an add-on has been scrapped by Sony, along with the GTN title. According to the latest reports, Polyphony will be releasing Gran Turismo 4, along with full online play, in the Spring of 2003.
We know it’s a long time, but Sony has promised to keep stocking the shelves with Gran Turismo 3 updates. GT Concept is due early next year, and rumours continue to gather pace that Sony will produce a similar title for two other major car shows.
More as we get it.
