With the new Xbox 360 dashboard 'experience' creating a mix of dissent and underwhelmation, Microsoft has announced that " Xbox LIVE Gold Weekend Starts this Friday!".
The press release states that, "We’re happy to announce that this weekend we’re unlocking some of our amazing Xbox LIVE Gold member features including LOVEFiLM (30 day free trial included), Video Kinect, Facebook and of course, online gaming, making them free for all users."
Of course! Also gaming.
"The Free LIVE Weekend will allow all members to access these exciting experiences for free.*" it continues, with the ever-hanging "*". This time the "*" means:
"*Other subscriptions/fees may be required."
If you've not already got a Gold membership, you can use the weekend to "Visit Xbox LIVE and get a 10 minute preview of the blockbuster hit The Hangover Part II for FREE, and enjoy up to 40% off amazing titles such as The Hangover, The Bourne Identity, The Green Lantern and many more."

This new update's amazing. Now I can stream a minimal collection of old and/or crap films from lovefilm on my xbox as well as on my ps3, PC, TV, etc.
Basically, they've added this old feature to the noisiest device in my living room. I'm not sure I'm that excited.

Just spreading this around because I think it's ridiculous that microsoft makes you pay for Xbox Live Gold
when ps3 lets you play online for free!
So tell your friends about this and hopefully nobody will have to pay for xbox live gold again!
I can vouch for this because I aquired my current Xbox Live Gold membership from it!
I got my 12 month subscription totally free, and also got my little cousin an account! :-)
