The mad spending apocalypse that is Black Friday has come and gone in the US, and Microsoft has already proudly expressed its delight at how well the Xbox 360 sold during the festive period. Last week, sales of the six-year-old machine topped 960,000 units.

Microsoft mouthpiece Major Nelson proudly revealed that the landmark figure makes it the most successful seven days in the console's history, with 800,000 Xbox 360s sold in a single 24 hour period (we'd hazard a guess that was during Black Friday).

An additional 750,000 Kinect peripherals sold alongside it, making for one hell of an active Christmas in America no doubt. Either way, it's incredible to see such sales figures from a console that's been around for such a period of time.

Are you getting your first Xbox 360 this Christmas? Getting a second? Replacing a Red Ringed console (ho ho ho - we like to joke around here)? Let us know in the comments box below.
