Actually, maybe a little silliness is OK; EA's Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore has declared that Nintendo are on to a winner with Wii-U and that Electronic Arts has teams "working on it around the world."He also assures gamers that "Our key franchises will be there. We’ve made that commitment to Nintendo.” While news on the Wii-U front has been a bit quiet since the big reveal at E3 earlier this year, behind the scenes the industry is ramping up for the release of the new Nintendo machine.
Moore will be visiting Kyoto later this month where he hopes to find out more details on the system specs as well as price and expected release date. As this information is now being passed to developers, we can only hope for a leak at some point that will give a heads up for us lowly consumers.
The industry legend already has a few opinions on the Wii-U, of course. He believes that incorporating a tablet is a good idea, saying that "No one thinks its going to replace an iPad 2 but it is playing into what a consumer feels comfortable with." It's certainly a new approach for a company like EA to be seen to throw their weight behind a brand new Nintendo system so solidly before it's even been released. Here's hoping that the support translates into success.
