Control Your Xbox With Your Windows Phone

Turn your phone into a glorified telly remote.

Control Your Xbox With Your Windows Phone
Microsoft has announced that while it's 'revolutionising telly' and whatnot, it's also turning your Windows phone into a controller for your Xbox 360.

The 'Xbox Companion App' will be free for Windows Phone users. It will enable users to search for, learn about and control content from Xbox Live Marketplace for your Xbox 360.

A Windows Phone blog post gives the example of searching for X-Men: First Class, then being able to get at further related content by, for example, tapping James McAvoy's name and getting whisked off to a list of other films he's been in.

You can also use the app to navigate the dashboard and control video playback.

If you watch the video pimping the new Xbox TV services below you'll notice that around the one minute mark a lady pulls out her phone and gives the app a bit of a go. Maybe it will bring to mind WiiU. Maybe you'll start to think about how this almost certainly won't be the full extent of future interactions between Xbox and Windows Phone...
