You don't have to look at your friend's measly 4GB Xbox 360 with utter envy anymore - Microsoft has announced (via community megaphone Major Nelson) that the outer casing of the 250GB models will be changed from shitty gloss to a lovely matte finish."Some of the news outlets that covered it mentioned having a choice between matte and glossy Xbox 360s this holiday," Nelson wrote on
his blog. "I wanted to set the record straight and let everyone know that that is not the case."
Then he gets a bit pretentious on us and starts using phrases like, "We are actively transitioning all our Xbox 360 S consoles to a matte finish." What? Actively transitioning for plans going forward to fast track an empowerment of barriers to entry, perhaps?
Nelson adds that it might re-introduce glossy consoles for its limited edition runs, such as the Gears of War 3 or Star Wars bundles. But for now, you only have a matter of weeks before the chance to get a glossy black Xbox 360 is gone forever.
But why? To quote one of the comments in the blog post, "Yes, there is nothing going on for the 360 right now so they have to put something out lol." Quite?
