GameCube will wait for online until the time is right
At a recent press jamboree in Japan, Nintendo honcho and Mario inventor Shigeru Miyamoto tried to clear up the company’s strategy for putting the GameCube console online.

He stated that the GameCube, right from its inception, was designed for online play and Internet browsing. Miyamoto also said that there are several online games in the works at this time, with first, second and third party development teams. He mentioned that Phantasy Star Online was all but complete at Sega’s Sonic Team studios.

Miyamoto also made reference to the fact that Nintendo is eager to make it known that the company has aligned itself with several big players in online gaming, not least Sega.
