EA Slams Apple's App Store
Having just paid out several hundreds of million dollars to buy Plants vs Zombies creator PopCap following its earlier purchase of Cut the Rope publisher, Chillingo EA is now saying that Apple's App Store is in 'freefall'.

EA's chief creative director Richard Hilleman told MCV, "Our current experience is that the App Store model is essentially in freefall. That increasingly people in that context need to pay in-game versus out of the game."

The fact that both Chillingo and PopCap have seen great success with the App Store model, which sees Apple taking a cut of sales, could be something do to with this of course.

Hillman continues, "The good news is that our experience with DLC has been that if we do those strategies successfully, that we get payment rates that are far superior to almost everybody else in the online commerce space."
