According to a Reuters report, Microsoft could be looking to bring 'Kinect-like' capabilities to handhelds and mobile devices.Says the report, "The Kinect game accessory, which enables video game interaction through full-body gestures, has found a number of uses in the hacking community and Microsoft’s addition of Kinect services to robotics extends the popular product even farther. But Kinect’s future could be in even more intelligent smartphones."
This derives from the fact that in 2010 Microsoft purchased "gesture-recognition company Canesta, and its chip-level pattern recognition". The report extrapolates from this that this "may provide a return in the form of a smaller Kinect-type product that fits into a handset."
