In perhaps the next step to bring the PlayStation Portable closer to the PS3, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has just announced that it will be re-releasing the handheld's most popular games for the HD console.
It was revealed that the games, titled PSP Remasters, will include the obligatory high definition graphical upgrade, along with 3D stereoscopic visuals for some titles and extended online functionality in others.
Only one title has been confirmed for a PS3 remake, and that's the incredibly popular Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. No surprise there, then. The PSP has been an incredibly powerful force in Japan over the last few years, so it's no wonder that Sony is keen to keep it alive well after the launch of its NGP.
No word on whether we'll see this coming to the West - we've put a call in to Sony about it.
