PlayStation Network - a Social Hack?

Moving to 'more secure' premises

PlayStation Network - a Social Hack?
Sony has posted a new FAQ regarding the PlayStation Network outage and hack, it travels much old ground. However, it does state a course of action being taken by the company that indicates that the 'external intrusion' might not have been quite so external.

"Moving forward," says Patrick Seybold Senior Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media, "we are initiating several measures that will significantly enhance all aspects of PlayStation Network’s security and your personal data, including moving our network infrastructure and data centre to a new, more secure location, which is already underway. We will provide additional information on these measures shortly."

Now, the idea that the current data centre was not in a 'secure location' rather than was not a secure centre is an interesting choice of wording from Sony. The physical location of the data centre itself should not affect the security of the servers and therefore the data, unless that location was physically compromised either by an external presence or from the inside.

If any of our readers work in data centres or have inside knowledge, please feel free to comment below.

@config Don't use "rm -rf *>*" on unix/linux, it'll only delete files or directories with a "." in them. Just use "rm -rf *".
