PlayStation 3 users have found that their first adventure with Commander Shepard isn't going as smoothly as they'd hoped - Bioware's port of Mass Effect 2 is doing an exceptional job in corrupting save data.Users on the studio's
support forum began reporting incidents of game save corruption six days ago, and although Electronic Arts' technical help desk has responded to emails, the community doesn't appear to be very satisfied.
Some players have been unlucky enough to pump over 30 hours into the game, before experiencing a console crash and their save data virtually destroyed. According to one user, it appears saves are all bundled into the one file - meaning one instance of corruption will knacker all your other saves.
EA support has thus far advised players to clean their discs or delete the corrupted save and try again - neither of which necessarily help the situation admittedly. There was no mention of a bug fix or even an acknowledgement of the issue. We've contacted EA directly for comment.
