2K has announced (really, for real, we're not kidding) the release date for Duke Nukem Forever. Not a dream! Not a trick! Not a mass hallucination! A real release date!
The game will be with us on May 6th (or, as some people are now referring to it, 'the day that pigs will actually fly'). It will be out in the US a few days ahead of that, on May 3rd.
The game has been, famously, a very long time coming. Development was begun with Duke creator 3D Realms back in 1997. After various legal problems Take-Two asserted its publishing rights to the title last year and it was announced that Gearbox was now working on the title. And now: it's coming!
Bit of blurb? OK:
"Put on your shades and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are invading and only Duke can save the world. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses can’t stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-ass while doing it.
"The King arrives with an arsenal of over-the-top weapons, non-stop action, and unprecedented levels of interactivity. This game puts the pedal to the metal and tongue firmly in cheek. Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle the many hot women that occupy Duke’s life - that is if you can pull yourself away long enough from destroying alien invaders. Duke Nukem was andwill forever be a gaming icon, and this is his legend."
Have a look at the new screens in the gallery, why don't you? Then, video:
I love video game release dates. I love the sound they make as they whizz by.
PC version may hit that date, but they can't give any guarantees for console releases as there's nothing to stop Sony or Microsoft finding faults that they require fixing before publication.

Looking forward to this, seems intriguing. Final Fantasy Versus XIII to take over DNF's place? Perhaps. New trailer, no new release date. Next year, 10th anniversary of development for Versus.

14 years in the making. Who was paying their wages for that long? This is just silly.
Still after looking at the video I'll give it a play just to remember the good times I had on Duke Nuke 'em at college on the LAN playing multi-player. They was good times.
