END UPDATEThe original
Cannon Fodder games were released in 1993 and 1994 for the Commodore Amiga (
SPOnG's Tim liked it back then) and DOS platforms (and ported to many others), and was an over-the-top cartoony 2D screen-scrolling shooter. It is highly regarded among retro gamers as one of the most treasured games on the system.
For this latest sequel, we'll be seeing full 3D isometric environments, weather and water effects, passages of time and destructible environments. Your mission, as 'cannon fodder,' is to stop a military alliance consisting of European, Asian and African forces from establishing a joint dictatorship.
Codemasters is working with Russian publisher GFI to make the comical wargame a reality. Naturally, we're all over this one - we'll let you know more details as we get them.
