Cannon Fodder 3 Coming to PC and Xbox 360
Be still our beating hearts! Codemasters has just announced that ancient and beloved Sensible Software classic Cannon Fodder is coming to PC and Xbox 360. It'll be with us in the form of Cannon Fodder3 .

UPDATE: It appears that something strange is going on. Codemasters has in fact distanced itself from the project and has stated that it has no involvement in GFI's announcement. Read the ongoing story here. END UPDATE

The original Cannon Fodder games were released in 1993 and 1994 for the Commodore Amiga (SPOnG's Tim liked it back then) and DOS platforms (and ported to many others), and was an over-the-top cartoony 2D screen-scrolling shooter. It is highly regarded among retro gamers as one of the most treasured games on the system.

For this latest sequel, we'll be seeing full 3D isometric environments, weather and water effects, passages of time and destructible environments. Your mission, as 'cannon fodder,' is to stop a military alliance consisting of European, Asian and African forces from establishing a joint dictatorship.

Codemasters is working with Russian publisher GFI to make the comical wargame a reality. Naturally, we're all over this one - we'll let you know more details as we get them.

I remember Amiga games for £29.99/£34.99! 15 years later and we pay about the same (via mail order) for PS3 & 360 games. It makes you realise that if you take into account inflation games have actually got cheaper.

@Bonsai

Yeah I have always said that, everyone moans about COD prices but I remember paying £49.99 for Zelda:OOT and there were no supermarket price wars then, and a couple of N64 3rd party games came out at £59.99. in fact if I remember correctly, it was Nintendo who release most 1st/2nd Party games at around £39.99, where as most 3rd party games released at £44.99 so prices seemed to have dropped.

Doesn't look like I'm going to get the chance now... unless I go to Russia again. But I was only there in October so maybe not.

Awwww. Amiga Format, such fun days... well, those I remember.

Pip pip
