The head designer and creator of the Shenmue series of games, Yu Suzuki, has reignited fan fervour by dropping hints on the sequel that never was, Shenmue 3.The interviewer of website
1up quizzed Suzuki on his desire to make
Shenmue 3 straight after the second in the series, to which the designer replied with a one word answer of "Yeah".
Suzuki was then asked of the possibility of a third in the franchise, adding that the CEO of Sega Europe, Mike Hayes, had mentioned previously "Never say never". He replied that "Yeah, we can't say "never." This topic steps into sensitive territory, but history hasn't always been kind to Sega and there were some difficult years, sales-wise. Business was tough, and they couldn't take risks on big titles.
