Microsoft - even in the UK - is standing on the virtual corner offering you the chance to experience Xbox Live Gold membership for free... for one weekend.
According to its Facebook page from Friday, November 26 at 12:00am - November 28 at 11:30pm "all Xbox LIVE Free members get a free Gold upgrade all weekend..."
There are also a bunch of competitions.
However, as far as gamers are concerned, the most important thing is that, "If you’re an Xbox LIVE Free member, you get to try out the multiplayer modes of all your favourite games – for free!"

The giveaway is to try and attract non-members to join... no real reason for them to give anything to people who have already demonstrated that they are willing to pay.
