Gakai "Open" Beta Sees Mass Effect 2 Under Linux
Dave Perry - of Earthworm Jim and Messiah fame - has announced that games advertising engine Gakai has gone into beta.

Don't know what Gakai is? Here's the official word:

"Suppose there was a way to add an entirely new revenue stream to your site, without carving out new ad space. Now there is, with Gaikai's game demo ad network. Here's how it works: Add a single line of Gaikai code to your site, and your users can play full PC and console video games right on the page, absolutely free. For every minute they play, we pay you. That's right: we pay you to put awesome free games on your site."

Perry announced a strange kind of 'Open Beta' for the service via his blog as follows:

"...on Sunday afternoon we decided to stop coming up with excuses not to launch Gaikai to the public and silently sent out a blast of 1,000 invites around the world. Suddenly we were officially 'Open Beta', people were playing within minutes and leaving nice messages in our survey system.

"No issues have been reported that we can't fix this month, and so we will continue to send out invite blasts in waves of 10,000 until all issues are fixed."

The video below shows Mass Effect 2 in action with Gakai.
