The lead producer at Killzone developer Guerilla Games, Steven Ter Heide, has said that he sees budgets on next-gen titles rising for some time to come.Ter Heide was asked for a response regarding
EA's David Demartini's comments back in August proclaiming that game budgets had peaked, will begin to go in the opposite direction and reduce instead. He commented that:
"I don't know where the budgets are going but they'll probably continue to rise for the next couple of years. I don't see it levelling out - both spectrums are going to continue to grow, from top to bottom."
Ter Heide also shared his pearls of wisdom with new games development companies hoping to make their presence known in the games industry. He emphasised that they should be willing to aim high and take risks, even in the current climate, and concluded by saying, "Go for the title you really want to make rather than trying to work your way up."
Motivational words indeed. Maybe Guerilla Software can help some of the upstarting developers out with funding for their big projects then?
