Russian Government Funds £16 Million to 'Patriotic' Video Game Dev
So, as the UK games industry struggles to get any commitment from political parties in terms of support, the Russian government teams up with 1C (Il2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey) to produce patriot games.

The Rianovosti site reports that, "The Russian Communications ministry and a leading software company are working on a project to produce computer games aimed at boosting patriotism among young people and promoting Moscow's vision of the 'historic truth'."

Apparently a game has already been shown to Russian president,Dmitry Medvedev.

The report states that "The project's cost is estimated at around 720 million rubles (£16 million), Vedomosti daily quoted Communication Ministry's statement as saying. The Ministry has asked the government to allocate 500 million rubles. 1C is ready to spend 200 million rubles, and another 20 million rubles will come from the government of Russia's Khanty-Mansiysk region."
