PS3 Exploit Released To Public
It was only yesterday that George Hotz announced his exploit of the PlayStation 3, using a 'tricking' of the system to allow it to do whatever he wanted. Today, he has released it to the public, in the hope that it will “ignite the PS3 scene.”

Users who download the ZIP file are being asked to post their findings on a development Wiki that archives information on various PlayStation exploits. The aim is to knock collective homebrew heads to come to a software hack in order to fully crack the machine.

“[The exploit] gives full memory space access and therefore ring 0 access from OtherOS,” writes Hotz. “This is known to work with version 2.4.2 only, but I imagine it works on all current version. Maybe later I'll write up how it works.”

Sony's only comment on the matter was to the BBC yesterday, stating that it was investigating the matter.

For me as a PS3 user and a long time gamer, if you go to asia may be there are people who already knew how to hack the ps3 and is actually holding the blueprint, it's not new, I am someone who has been always supporting hacking, espcially with consoles, however now it is not about piracy copy anymore it's about quality. surely when you hacked the console, i you won'tl get the same quality of image and sound, and so much more.

There is more work to be done, to say that the ps3 is hacked officially, like hacking the protected memory, if he can't hack the memory, hotz will want to take his words back by saying he hacked the ps3, cos if memory cannot be managed, it will be useless.
