Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) unit is the area of the company responsible for the Xbox 360, Games for Windows and Microsoft Game Studios. It's about to look for some more desk space, as teams for the Zune, Mediaroom IPTV and Media Center move under the IEB unit today. The company has announced the restructure following the exit of Enrique Rodriguez, the Corporate Vice President in charge of the TV, Video and Media group that used to house these divisions. Rodriguez moves on from the company “to pursue other interests." As a result, Don Mattrick will be in charge of most of the re-organised teams.
A Microsoft spokesman told
ZDNet that the Zune, Media Center and first-party TV, Music and Video businesses will fall under IEB control, while Mediaroom is to become a standalone group within the parent Entertainment and Devices division, answering directly to president Robbie Bach.
This reshuffle mean more integration between the various entertainment teams and the Xbox 360? We're still looking forward to
Crackdown 2 on our Zune.
