PS3 And PSN Enjoy Biggest Christmas Ever
So how's Sony's revised PlayStation 3 strategy working out? The answer would be 'fantastically', as the company has announced that its US PlayStation Network generated 155 per cent more revenue in December compared to the same period the year before.

With SCEA's communications director, Patrick Seybold, calling the last month “the single highest revenue month” for the online service, it sounds like the PlayStation Network is starting to truly pick up its stride. The online success matched that of its hardware, with a reported 1.7 million PS3s sold over the Christmas period in North America.

"It's no surprise we've seen PS3 units sold every month nearly double since October. We knew 2009 would be a turning point for the platform due to the new price and a content line-up that is fuelling unprecedented consumer and industry interest with games like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves," said Seybold prior to the NPD numbers being released. "The consumer response has simply been overwhelming and we anticipate the high demand for PS3 to continue into the coming months as we work closely with retail to meet the demand."

Let's see if the company can continue this success and start to get profitable on its hardware this year.
