Metal EP Hints at God of War 3 March 2nd Release
Music website The Silver Tongue has written of a God of War III digital EP that will be released to coincide with the incoming PlayStation 3 system-seller – and may have let slip the game's release date in the process.

The EP will be one of a heavy metal nature and is the result of a partnership between Roadrunner Records and Sony. The website says; “The EP is titled God of War: Blood & Metal and will be released two weeks before the game becomes available on March 2nd.”

Due to the obvious ambiguity of the sentence, we can't tell whether the author meant the digital EP is to be released on 2nd March, or if God of War III itself is to be launched on that day. We knew Kratos' latest adventure was to hit stores in March, but the surprise is the announcement of a date. 2nd March 2010 is a Tuesday, which is release day for the US.

So, according to The Silver Tongue (inadvertently) God of War III could be hitting US shelves on either 2nd March or the 16th March. Time to make a huge ring around your fresh 2010 calendar.

As for the Roadrunner Records EP itself, it will contain five previously unreleased songs which have been recorded exclusively for the digital release. Following its initial launch, the EP will also be included as part of the God of War III Ultimate Edition, which contains a crazy amount of merchandise and other bits and bobs.

Contributing artists for the heavy metal collaboration are Killswitch Engage, Dream Theatre, Taking Dawn, Opeth and Trivium. Svend SPOnG was happy until he read Trivium, who he says “are a bit poo”.
