US stats collator, the NPD Group has released its list of best-selling games in the USA to November 2009. It makes pleasant reading for Activision/Blizzard and for Nintendo. Sony, however, must be wondering what happened.Without our waffle... here's the deal:
1 -
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Xbox 360 - Activision - 4.2m
2 -
Wii Fit (w/ balance board) - Wii - Nintendo - 3.5m
3 -
Wii Sports Resort (w/ MotionPlus) - Wii - Nintendo - 2.4m
4 -
Wii Mario Kart (w/ wheel) - Wii - Nintendo - 2.2m
5 -
Wii Play (w/ remote) - Wii - Nintendo - 2.1m
6 -
Halo 3: ODST - Xbox 360 - Microsoft - 2m
7 -
Pokemon Platinum Version - DS - Nintendo - 1.9m
8 -
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - PS3 - Activision - 1.9m
9 -
Madden NFL 10 - Xbox 360 - Electronic Arts - 1.5m
10 -
New Super Mario Bros Wii - Wii - Nintendo - 1.4m
So, the only look-in PS3 got was a #8 slot with
MW2, having been well and truly beaten to the punch by the Xbox 360 version. Poor co-marketing from SCEA? Or simply the fact that more Xbox 360s exist in the USA than PS3?
Either way, Nintendo frankly made both other consoles look silly, so stow the fanbois chat.
