Summary

Pokémon Platinum, in a nutshell, takes Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and runs like crazy with them. The game builds on what's offered in Diamond and Pearl, effectively making it a director's cut.

The story revolves around renegade Pokémon, Giranta, which has turned up in its Origin Forme. Just because it's top of the pile, however, doesn't mean there aren't plenty of others to pop up and be captured, ranging from Dialga and Palkia, to the powerful trio of Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit.

Most exciting of all for dedicated Pokémon aficionados, however, will be Shaymin, which has been made available through special events that unlock the character for Diamond or Pearl and enable it to be transferred to Platinum.

There's also the brand new Distortion World – a place governed by neither time nor space – to challenge players and make things distinctly colder in Sinnoh.

Also new to Platinum is a new Battle Frontier – a building stuffed with challenges and tournaments - to be accessed when the ‘Elite Four’ and the Pokémon League Champion have been defeated. Once you get over there, you'll find five different Battle facilities, each with Battle Points to be had and traded in for prizes.

If you've been looking to expand your experience with Pokémon Diamond or Pearl, Platinum is what you need.
