You know expectations were high for a game when a developer calls 2.65 million sales 'disappointing'. On the other hand, we are talking about the Wii, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Wii Music here.Speaking to
Official Nintendo Magazine, the legendary game designer revealed that the music game sold so poorly that a sequel may be on the cards. You know, just to make sure you buy it this time.
“I think [
Wii Music] sold lower than our expectations but on the other hand it was a really unique game,” Miyamoto admitted. “Even today, we are receiving several different offers from people in the field of music education, so as far as
Wii Music is concerned, I think it still has great potential. And in the future there might be some developments.”
Released in 2008,
Wii Music aimed to take a different approach to
Guitar Hero and
Rock Band by giving players a whole range of different instruments, playable using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Instead of achieving a high score, the game focused on allowing the user to explore different sounds by experimenting with motions.
Miyamoto stated that he has no news regarding any possible sequel, but described that the way
Wii Fit has expanded with the
Plus title could be a direction Nintendo may take with
Wii Music soon.
