Musical people, here's a tip from the Pros. Hans Zimmer, the man responsible for the music in
MW2, has told Mike Snider the following about composing the soundtrack:
"It was easy to let the locales dictate the instruments. When we are in Brazil we are more Brazilian and when we are in Russia, we are more Russian. That is an easy starting point always". And the very cinematic ideas we have put into it about eeriness and tension, it's just basically pushing the language of a good fast-paced thriller forward. I wasn't treating it that much different from a movie."
But apparently the game is about more than making sure that the music matched the locale.
"What makes it really interesting is that it has an emotional darkness to it where sometimes you go, I just can't believe they are going to do this now and then they do it. It's full of those sort of moments where it just takes things further than anyone would expect them to do. So I think it is less a geographic journey than an emotional one."
