Sony Ericsson has launched its new phone, the Aino, which is the first non-PlayStation gadget to take advantage of the PS3's Remote Play feature. Connecting to a PS3 remotely will allow this handset to access and control their media.

Although you can't play PS3 games, Minis or any other kinds of game content, the Aino can browse the PlayStation Store and purchase titles to download onto your home console, ready for you to play when you reach that DualShock. The feature will allow the messaging of PSN friends, browsing of the XMB and watching and recording television with PlayTV.

According to a PlayStation Blog post, controlling the XMB and other PS3 functions will be similar to using a standard controller, with face buttons mimicking the Circle and Triangle buttons. And it looks like its done well to remove the crappy navigation nub that plagues Svend SPOnG's ancient K700i.

If you want one of these bad boys, they're available at Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse, with "more [announced retailers] to come ASAP".
