Sony has a raft of new playlists set to appear on the PS3's VidZone offering today.
The new playlists will be themed along the lines of 'BBQ Music', '90s', 'Metal Anthems', 'Dizzee Rascal' and 'Hot New Videos'.
Of 'BBQ Music', the least self-explanatory of the playlists, Sony's Ben Creasey (Music Video Emperor, VidZone, apparently) tells us, "BBQ season is well and truly upon us and what better way to accompany the sound of sizzling sausages and the inevitable scream of the lost burger or wasp attack than some super summery titles. Videos from The Beach Boys, Jazzy Jeff, Groove Armada, LL Cool J and a ton more."
On '90s: "Let’s face it. The 90’s is the new 80’s. Check out the Shell suits and videos from Ace of Base, Take That, Whitney, The Lighthouse Family and more."
On Metal Anthems: "You have all been screaming (sometimes literally!) for metal so we thought we would oblige. System of a Down, Godsmack, Marilyn Manson and Bullet for my Valentine feature among others."
On Dizzee Rascal... Bah. You don't need Sony to tell you what that is. He's picked a bunch of his favourites.
The Hot New Videos playlist features the likes of Chaka Khan, Freemasons, Grizzly Bear, and Maximo Park.
Tribute was also paid to Michael Jackson - "I think it is only right and respectful to pay our respects to the King of Pop, ‘the idol’ and without doubt the coolest man on the planet…Michael Jackson." Coolest man on the planet? Well, yes. If he wasn't cool, a bad smell might start to waft from the morgue...
